Ground, Balance, and Elevate Your Mind-Body Connection

What I Teach

Energy Flow & Alignment

We’ll direct life-force energy into your joints and bones, moving efficiently to prevent energetic blocks and support a natural, balanced flow throughout your body.

Body Connection & Self-Regulation

Learn to tune into your body’s signals to regulate emotions and change unhelpful patterns. This body awareness builds resilience in difficult situations and opens up new possibilities in your life.

Release & Rebuild

Clear stored emotions that create energetic blocks and cultivate new movement patterns, letting go of excess tension and creating a relaxed, balanced state of being.

Extend & Expand

My teaching focuses on grounding and balancing the body, supporting you as you align with your higher self. You'll open up the joints and harness opposing forces by feeling the bones and tendons move with greater ease and efficiency. Together, we’ll clear the path for opportunities and synchronicities you might not have noticed before.

Mind-Body Mastery

Tai Chi Chaun is more than movement—it's a meditation in motion that trains your brain and body to work in harmony. We’ll balance both sides of the brain, helping you access your intuition and inner calm, while building physical strength and mental clarity.

How I Teach

In my classes, I place a strong emphasis on breaking down every movement into its essential components, ensuring that you can deeply experience and connect with each one. This approach allows you to fully immerse yourself in the practice, engaging both your body and mind as you explore the unique sensations and energies that arise with each movement.

Rather than simply memorizing forms, you will learn to tune into the subtle nuances of every gesture, helping you build a deeper connection with your body. By guiding you to feel each movement fully, I encourage you to notice how it affects your alignment, breath, and energy flow. This process not only enhances your Tai Chi Chaun practice but also fosters greater body awareness and mindfulness in your daily life.

As we move through each sequence, I will guide you in exploring new feelings

and internal states that each movement elicits. You'll begin to understand how certain movements help release tension, promote relaxation, or awaken energy, enabling you to integrate these experiences into your body’s memory. Over time, you'll build a personalized toolkit of embodied movements and sensations, creating a resource you can intuitively draw from for self-regulation and personal growth.

The goal is to equip you with various movement patterns and feelings that you can rely on to navigate life’s challenges. Whether you're facing stress, difficult emotions, or physical tension, you will have the tools to access a sense of calm, balance, and focus. By repeatedly returning to these sensations, you will develop the ability to self-regulate, adapt to different situations, and align your mind and body in a harmonious way. This is the foundation for true personal transformation, allowing you to embody a new sense of ease, resilience, and presence both on and off the mat.

Whether in small group classes or private sessions, you’ll learn at your own pace, with individual guidance to support your unique needs.

Mastering Martial Arts Through the Legacy of James Wing Woo

Sifu Elodie’s journey, shaped by the teachings of legendary Master Woo, blends Kung Fu and Tai Chi to cultivate strength, discipline, and balance—empowering her students to unlock their true potential.

Sifu Elodie began her journey into martial arts at the age of five under the tutelage of the highly respected Master James Wing Woo. Master Woo, a pioneer in martial arts in the U.S., had a profound influence on Sifu Elodie’s development, helping her cultivate not only her physical abilities but also her inner strength. By age 15, she incorporated Tai Chi Chuan into her training at Master Woo’s urging, adding depth to her practice. Master Woo, known for his expertise in both Kung Fu and Tai Chi, was a strong proponent of balancing both arts, emphasizing precision, discipline, and alignment.

Elodie quickly became one of his most advanced students, continuing her training under him until his passing in 2014. The rigorous training she received from him instilled a deep sense of discipline, patience, and humility—values central to both the physical and philosophical aspects of martial arts that Master Woo was renowned for teaching.

In her teaching, Sifu Elodie focuses on helping students understand how to align their bodies correctly, using their bones and joints to control movement and avoid unnecessary tension. This method fosters natural strength and energy flow, allowing for greater efficiency and agility, key principles of Master Woo's teachings

What Students Are Saying

Students share how Sifu Elodie’s patient, practical instruction has influenced the way they move, breathe, focus, and meet everyday life.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Sifu Elodie. Since taking Tai Chi classes with her, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my posture, balance, and overall body awareness. I carry myself differently and feel much more aligned and confident throughout the day.

She is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. She takes the time to ensure everyone understands the movements and creates such a positive, welcoming environment.

What I appreciate most is that her classes go beyond physical movement. I leave each session feeling calmer, more centered, and less stressed. The improvement in my posture has been life-changing, and the mental and emotional benefits have been just as valuable.

Dear NgoCosta Mesa, California

Tai Chi has taught my ADHD mind to slow down and stay in the moment. It helps relieve my daily stress, and Elodie’s consistent, nonjudgmental teaching style has helped me stop lifting my shoulders, walk more efficiently, and be less hard on myself. She explains how to do things my trainer simply told me to do.

The slow, gentle movements are teaching me how to shift my weight properly, and I’ve noticed greater balance, stability, and strength in my hip joints.

Irene FeeneyBeverly Hills, California

I initially started Tai Chi classes to improve my energy. After just a few months of training with Elodie, my everyday life became easier. I have much more energy and feel incredibly strong and capable.

I’ve noticed that it takes less energy to do the same workouts at the gym. I require fewer naps during the day and can complete my gym workout in half the time.

Sharon DurhamBeverly Hills, California

I started taking Tai Chi with Elodie because of an injured foot and very poor balance. Although I had taken Tai Chi years ago with other teachers, it had not helped.

After learning Elodie’s professional methods, I can walk with confidence now that my balance is better, and I have my energy and strength back.

Jeanne GlattBeverly Hills, California

My experience with Elodie has been life-altering. I immediately felt relief from my sciatica. I transformed my posture from an anterior pelvic tilt to stacking my posture efficiently and releasing tightness, tension, and pain through the movements she taught me. I now feel controlled alignment.

Elodie’s method taught me to be fully present. She works with you step by step. If I don’t get a position right, she helps identify where I feel pain or discomfort and guides me in making a correction.

As a wonderful bonus, my daughter and I are connecting more by doing Tai Chi together on Zoom all the way from Connecticut.

Martha HurtadoZoom Student · Connecticut

I had taken Tai Chi classes at my local YMCA and watched videos, admiring how people moved powerfully in an almost meditative state. When my friend and I began taking classes with Elodie, she changed the traditional way we viewed Tai Chi.

Through focused and intentional instruction, she guided us to strengthen and re-educate the way we hold and move our bodies. She taught aligned posture, rhythmic breathing, natural cadence, and how to free our limbs from years of moving on autopilot.

I started walking and standing differently through her instruction on hip shifting and pelvic rotation. Most importantly, she taught us to generate a powerful stance—physically and mentally—by taking ownership of our bodies. I recommend her to anyone seeking another approach to movement, balance, and healing.

Kara Clayton

In the 15 years I’ve practiced Tai Chi in the company of Elodie Hara, my knees have grown vastly stronger and more flexible. Squatting and deep knee-bend positions I couldn’t come close to doing before now come easily.

Yes to Tai Chi for joint strength and flexibility—but a person needs a good teacher. Elodie Hara is a great one.

JLCStudent for 15 Years

Elodie’s Tai Chi and Kung Fu instruction has been transformative for both my body and overall well-being. When I began training with her, I struggled with tight hip flexors and hamstrings, uneven hips, poor glute activation, and chronic tension that affected my sleep.

Through her emphasis on balance, stability, body control, and joint mobility—especially learning to move through my bones—I developed better movement patterns, improved alignment, and stronger glute activation. My body feels more coordinated, efficient, and resilient, with far less discomfort.

An unexpected benefit has been significantly improved sleep, along with greater mental focus and energy throughout the day. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve mobility, balance, strength, coordination, mental focus, and long-term physical health while learning along the way.
